Unblocking the Community is launched

Proper Oils launches its community-based project to tackle the greasy problem of used cooking oils.

It finally looks like the sun has arrived, and Proper Oils have successfully nested down in their new facility here in White City. During the last few months we’ve been busy developing our exciting new venture – Unblocking the Community – to make it easy for you and your communities to recycle your used cooking oils and fats.

All the support needed can be found on our microsite. There are bite-size video shorts to explain the need for the service, show householders how to collect, store, and recycle used cooking oils and fats, and to illustrate the process of getting involved. Together with FAQs, downloads for publicity, and an interactive Google map of collection sites.

Our cause is also being covered on Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

We are delighted to say that lots of community collection points have been established so far, we’ve distributed collection vessels and recycler packs to lots of different types of communities including schools, housing cooperatives and faith groups in a range of London boroughs – Richmond, Wandsworth, Kensington & Chelsea, Brent and Haringey.

If you, or anybody in your community, want to recycle their used cooking oil, to help protect the environment and earn some money, then contact nick@properoils.co.uk.
