Proper Oils is launching Unblocking The Community, a unique way for householders to recycle the waste cooking oil and fat which are generated in your own domestic kitchen.
This groundbreaking initiative has taken lots of time & effort to plan, and to raise the finance to fund it – thanks to the Cabinet Office for funding the innovative Waste Reduction Challenge and NESTA for selecting “Unblocking the Community” as a finalist . The first part of the trialing, consultation, and prototyping is now complete and we are now ready to roll out household used cooking oil collections for householders in London & the South East.
This has all been down to the efforts of Nick Ives, our Project Manager, who joined Proper Oils last month. Thanks to him, and to the help from the creative team at CEMYK, you can now:
- Find out how easy it is to recycle your waste cooking oil – more info here
- Tell your friends how to recycle their waste vegetable oil and animal fats by talking, tweeting, facebooking or Google+’ing – save them the cost and hassle of blocked drains.
- become a Champion by setting up your own waste cooking oil recycling collection point. All the info is here online
Thanks for all your efforts Nick & Matt at CEMYK. Now its up to you to start collecting and recycling your waste cooking oil, and Proper Oils will collect it to turn your problem waste into useful green energy.
